The Ramblers’ mission is to create a Britain where everyone has the freedom to enjoy the outdoors on foot and benefits from the experience.
We are a local group of the Ramblers' Association and are one of the 3 groups in the Cheshire East Area. Our walks programme operates all year round. We welcome non-members to join us as guests on 2 or 3 walks, to see for yourself the enjoyment we get. If you wish to walk with us regularly, and we really hope you do, you will be expected to join the Ramblers.
South Cheshire Ramblers group offers a variety of walks at the weekend and during the week for the whole year. Walks vary in distance and difficulty from 4 to 12 miles. Pace is leisurely to moderate and sometimes strenuous. On full day walks there are stops for coffee/tea and a chance to eat your picnic lunch.
You will need to wear suitable walking boots/shoes, warm and waterproof clothing. A rucksack is useful to carry your picnic lunch, drinks and spare clothing.
PLEASE NOTE
Not all walks are suitable for dogs. Please contact the walk leader if you are considering bringing your dog.
New members may choose to join an email mailing list to keep in touch.
Membership benefits include:
- Our Group walks programme is viewable on line.

- A choice of over 45,000 walks every year, run by Ramblers volunteers.
- The best online library of 2,500 walking routes in Britain.

MEMBERSHIP – Anyone new to walking is welcome to join two or three of the walks and it is then hoped that they will become a member of the Ramblers - contact Membership Secretary. Leaders are reminded that any lapse in membership means they are not covered by RA insurance and that this negates them from leading walks.
TRANSPORT – If you are able to travel to the initial meeting point we have a car share arrangement. Transport costs are to be shared by passengers making payment to the driver to cover the cost of petrol used. Please note that the meeting time given is generally the time we expect to depart, so please allow at least 10 minutes to allow signing in and car share arrangements.
THE WALKING PARTNERSHIP - Remember when you book a Ramblers Worldwide Holiday to quote the name of our group and we will then receive a contribution (£10pp on UK, £20pp on short haul, £30pp on long haul holidays). This extra funding could really make a difference to us).
FOOD AND DRINK – On all-day rambles we usually take food and drink with us. If a pub stop is arranged for midday, your own food and drink should NOT be consumed in the pub, in the pub garden or anywhere on the public house premises, unless the publican has given permission.
WEATHER – In the event of extreme weather conditions, the leader should be contacted to determine whether or not the walk will go ahead.
SAFETY – While the leader of a walk will act in good faith, anyone joining a walk must take responsibility for their own safety.
ICE - In case of emergency, it is recommended that anyone with a pre-existing medical condition should have the details available.
DOGS – Dogs may be allowed on rambles at the discretion of the leader and must be kept under control. Please contact the leader before the ramble.
WALK LEADER -Members are reminded that all decisions of safety on walks are the responsibility of the leader, who has the final decision.
MAP LIBRARY – A map collection is available for the use of walks’ leaders on recces when planning rambles for the Group. The maps are available on loan for a 3 week period.
